ST JOHN'S SUMMER FAYRE
26th June 2010

The Meerkat (What was his name...?)This year's Summer Fayre took place on a warm and sunny day - no sign of last year's drizzle!  Making the most of the excellent weather, residents and visitors were able to explore the stalls, enjoy a ploughman's lunch or an ice-cream, listen to the music, watch and join in the dancing, or climb the church tower.

And then there were the games - including the ever-popular 'Splat the Rat', or Guess the name of the Meerkat!

The children of Danbury Park School were again on hand to entertain us with their dancing, and their Headteacher, Mr Arnold, bravely tried his hand at one of the games with pupils looking on.  A group of Zumba Dancers introduced this new exercise craze from the US, and a few brave souls joined in and had a go!

For the over-heated and music fans, there was an opportunity to cool off in the church while listening to an accomplished recital of music for two flutes and piano given by The Doppler Trio.
(Plug: they have a concert coming up in church on 17th July!)

The church tower was open for the intrepid, and the bellringing team escorted visitors up the stairs and ladders to view the stunning views across the village and the County.
