This year's High Sheriff of Essex is Mr Michael Hindmarch of Riffhams, Danbury.  Michael and his wife Susan have supported St John's Church for many years and are often among our Evensong congregation.  Graham was pleased and honoured to be invited by Michael to be his Chaplain during his year of office.

On Monday 29th March the new High Sheriff took the Declaration of Office at a ceremony in the Crown Court, Chelmsford, presided over by Lord Petre, the Lord Revd Canon Dr Graham Blyth, High Sheriff Michael Hindmarch, Deputy High Sheriff Jonathan Douglas-HughesLieutenant of Essex.  Mayors, Deputy Mayors and other officials representing the Councils of Essex were present at the ceremony, along with the retiring High Sheriff, Mr R S Gosling, and members of Mr Hindmarch's and Mr Gosling's families.  The formal ceremony was followed by a Reception in the Cathedral Chapter House.

The photograph, taken before the ceremony, shows Graham, Michael Hindmarch, and Under Sheriff Jonathan Douglas-Hughes OBE.
