ANNUAL VILLAGE MEETING
April 2010

Danbury Parish Council held its Annual Meeting for the village on 21st April at the Sports & Social Centre.

Revd Carol explains the stonework problemAs always, many organisations in the village set up stalls to tell the village about their activities.  Thanks to the efforts of Gill Pardoe, Sue Ferguson and Revd Carol Ball, the stall for St John's Church was among the largest, with display boards showing some of what we get up to - and the fun we have doing it!  The Rector was also present, as were several other members of our congregation.

The church's display included coverage of the Stonework Appeal, which is just getting underway to raise money for essential repairs to the outside of the church.  Sue Ferguson, who was also there representing Contact, the magazine of the Danbury churches, of which she is Editor, launched the appeal leaflet prepared by herself and a small church group.

As well as helping enquirers about the church, our representatives at the meeting shared in refreshments of coffee and biscuits and had time to talk to many of the other 80 or so residents attending the meeting.

The meeting gathersIn the formal part of the meeting, the Chairman of the Parish Council, Stuart Berlyn, gave his annual report on the work of the Parish Council and answered questions from the public.  There was a visiting speaker from EDF Energy who spoke about the company's plans for the future of the Bradwell Nuclear Reactor site.
